The cost-of-living crisis is affecting all of us with rising prices and concerns about the future. People with learning disabilities and their families are some of the hardest hit by the rising cost of living – the double whammy of rising costs of food and of energy, in addition to the extra costs that come from having a learning disability in the first place. Even basic needs are becoming unaffordable for people with disabilities.
At Field Lane, we are trying to cushion the impact on our clients and continue to provide them with the opportunity to lead their best lives. As a charity, we rely on the support of our donors. Like so many social care organisations, we’ve had to cut costs, to ensure we can weather the storm and maintain our usual high levels of service. Our clients and their families come first. We want our clients to lead independent and fulfilling lives. During times of crisis, there are even more challenges for them to overcome. The care our support teams provide helps our clients and their families to navigate their way through these times of heightened stress and to reduce their anxiety about the future.
