As we've reached the middle of the year, we thought it would be a good time to look back on what we’ve achieved so far in 2025.
Earlier in the year, we marked the completion of a joint project with Bright Spaces, a Bright Horizons Foundation programme, to refurbish the communal living space at Andrew Provan House. The new Bright Space will make the world of difference to the lives of the vulnerable families we support there.
In the spring we had our accreditation renewed by the National Autism Society. This is important recognition for the work we do in supporting people in our care who are autistic. We also took part in World Autism Awareness week, arranging a private screening of Snow White at a cinema in Redhill. The screening was designed to be comfortable and in a supportive environment, with viewers able to express themselves as and when needed.
We’ve also been talking to the families of people in our care, including Stuart’s mum, who shared with us her experience. In addition to having learning disabilities, Stuart is also autistic. His mum, Jill told us, “We have seen increases in his independence skills over the time he has been at Wood Street. Field Lane has opened Stuart’s world. It feels like home.”
We like to share stories about the people we support, and the activities they engage with. Some of the recent activities have included a holiday in Elveden Forest, day trips to London museums, to Legoland, and to local country shows. All these activities are so important for the wellbeing of the people in our care. They help build confidence and independence, giving them the opportunity to live fulfilling lives.
We are so grateful for the continued support we receive from people in our local communities, families and other partner organisations.
