Jonathan Freeman (pictured above), Field Lane trustee, who we featured in our news blog last month, has been recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honour’s List and awarded an MBE for his services to charity.
Jonathan is the founder CEO of the CareTech Foundation, the first corporate foundation in the social care sector. Under his leadership, the foundation has committed over £2.5m in grants to long-term social care partnerships to help drive systemic change in the sector.
He has been a driving force of the cross-sector Championing Social Care initiative, which aims to shine a light on the valuable contribution social care makes to our society and build greater awareness of the amazing people who live and work within it.
Jonathan is involved in several voluntary positions across the charity care sector, including his work as a trustee for Field Lane, which is particularly important for him as so many of Field Lane’s projects are based near his home in Surrey.
He said: “To work with charities, in particular those like Field Lane, supporting people in my own community, is a rare privilege. To receive such an honour as this as well, is very special.”
