Swire donation helps turn a house into a home

A generous donation from the Swire Charitable Trust will help with refurbishments to Andrew Proven House (APH). When vulnerable young families arrive at the house – many of who are homeless – their self-esteem can be very low. Each has a different story to tell about why they ended up needing Field Lane’s support but all have experienced tough personal challenges and difficult living situations, including suffering abuse. In addition to the practical and emotional support offered by APH, being given the opportunity to live in a secure and well-maintained home makes a real difference to residents’ sense of wellbeing and to their stability. Having a nice place to live – one that is clean and newly decorated – has a positive impact on behaviour and really helps residents to build up the confidence to make positive changes to their lives.

The Swire Charitable Trust supports a range of voluntary organisations across the UK, with the aim of delivering positive and lasting change. It is funded by John Swire and Sons Ltd., the parent company of the Swire Group.
