‘As soon as I walked into Dovers for the first time I knew that it was very different in a positive way to the many other places I had been to in the seemingly endless search for a suitable care home in which my mother could be looked after with love, kindness and high standards.
This was the first home I had entered in which I observed at first hand the residents actually engaging in positive activities under the caring supervision of the Day Care Manager and his team. I was impressed with the way the Manager spoke to a resident who wandered into the office during our meeting seeking comfort and reassurance. I felt that I would be pleased to know this was how my mother would be treated.
After my second visit to Dovers I felt confident enough to book two weeks’ “respite” for my mother in order to give her a short trial period and to see how she would settle. It was also important for the staff of Dovers to assess whether the home would be able to meet my mother’s needs. This ‘respite’ is now in its fifth week, and arrangements have now been put in place for my mother to be a permanent resident at Dovers.
As any other relative/carer would understand, I am absolutely thrilled to have found a home which is actually becoming ‘home’ not only to my mother but also to me. I could not have asked for more support and understanding coupled with professional competence from the staff. From the moment I left my mother at Dovers I felt very confident that she was in a safe, happy and caring environment in which she would be treated as an individual. She has already been doing baking and enjoying such pursuits as music and art therapy, not to mention the walks in the grounds and around the shops and, dare I say to the ‘local’. There is always someone for her to talk to and she has already made some new friends.
The bottom line is that my mother is now having infinitely better care than would be possible at home. I do not think a greater compliment could be paid to the Managers and staff of Dovers’.

‘We can see the ‘extra mile’ attention that is given. Always cheerful and you can see that the residents enjoy the activities.’
