C is blind and unable to speak and has a profound learning disability. He has always loved water and will choose to sit in the bath for long periods relaxing. Because of his visual impairment, the constant noises in and the claustrophobic environment of public pools and small aquatherapy classes have spoiled his enjoyment and caused him much distress. We therefore wondered if he would like a hot tub in the garden. This would allow him to enjoy an open environment where he could sit in the water without fear of it going cold. Meetings with relatives and the multi disciplinary team took place to decide whether purchasing a hot tub was in C’s best interests. A hot tub was finally chosen and has special features that are best suited to him such as a CD player with water proof speakers built in, water fountains, massages, and aromatherapy and Jacuzzi jets.
